Lilly Tino has reacted to backlash after being asked to return over $3,000 gifted by someone who has since passed away.
Someone had been sending her over $600 a week towards a Disney trip in February. Their family has now set up a fundraiser to help cover funeral costs.
Lilly has been criticised for contributing $100 after receiving thousands from the person. Several fans also say she blocked them for suggesting she return the money, while others claim comments about the fundraiser were removed.
Honestly, I can understand why people are upset. The money was given to help her enjoy a holiday, and now the person’s family is struggling to pay for their funeral. I’d hope she would want to help more if she’s able to.
That doesn’t mean every gift has to be returned when someone passes away. The supporter chose to give it to her, and that choice still matters.
But if people are being blocked simply for mentioning the fundraiser, I think that makes her response look worse. Asking whether she could contribute more isn’t automatically mean.
For me, she could acknowledge the situation without agreeing to every demand. Shutting down reasonable questions is only going to leave people more annoyed.
