Billy Corgan has reacted after Katherine Ryan criticised how he spoke about the 26-year age gap with his wife.
On The New York Times’ Popcast, Billy described the gap as an advantage. He said women his own age had been through more difficult experiences, while Chloé hadn’t.
Katherine questioned why he seemed to be describing women his age as ruined while presenting his younger wife’s lack of experience as a positive.
Honestly, I can understand her point. Saying you’re happy with your wife is one thing, but comparing her favourably with older women because they’ve been through more feels unnecessary.
I’d also question why those experiences are being treated as a disadvantage. Having a difficult past doesn’t mean someone would be a worse partner.
Katherine also challenged Billy’s defence of Marilyn Manson, questioning how he could be so certain about another person’s behaviour.
Now Billy has commented underneath a post about her criticism, writing, “Boring”.
To me, that’s dismissive. Katherine explained what bothered her, and calling it boring doesn’t answer why he felt the need to make that comparison.
