Jay-Z has responded after Dame Dash said he wouldn’t join him at the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show.
Dame questioned whether performing was worth the risk, saying, “If you do a show like the Super Bowl, and it’s terrible, it ruins your whole career.”
He also suggested Jay would bring out Beyoncé, but questioned who else could appear with a connection to his musical roots. He compared it with Dr Dre’s show, where Dre brought his team out together.
Honestly, I think Dame is making a lot of an invitation he hasn’t said he received. There’s a fair conversation about which guests would suit Jay’s performance, but announcing you won’t go feels a bit premature.
And he was very clear about it, saying, “I’m not going, don’t even call me for the Super Bowl. I’m not going. I don’t have any desire for that.”
I can understand not wanting to take part, but saying a bad show ruins your whole career sounds dramatic to me. One performance doesn’t erase decades of music.
Now Jay has replied underneath a post about Dame’s comments, writing, “You won’t need to worry about that”.
To me, that sounds like Jay is telling him the invitation wasn’t coming anyway. It’s a blunt response, but Dame did tell him not to call.
Before you go, I wanna know… was Dame making a fair point?
