Jessica Biel Reacts To Nepotism Backlash Over Son Silas Getting Film Role Through Her Connections

Jessica Biel has responded after her son Silas’s small role in Matchbox The Movie sparked a nepotism debate.

Producer Jules Daly suggested the appearance, but Jessica initially hesitated. She and Justin Timberlake usually keep their children out of the spotlight, and she didn’t want Silas expecting roles to be handed to him.

She agreed because the part was small and she trusted the producer.

On Josh Smith’s Great Chat Show, Jessica said she explained that young actors spend years training. She wouldn’t have allowed him to take a substantial speaking role away from someone who’d worked for it.

Honestly, I appreciate her recognising that. But getting a part through your mom’s connections is still nepotism, even if it’s a small appearance.

I don’t think she’s wrong to let him try acting. I just think she can acknowledge the advantage without suggesting a smaller role doesn’t count.

Now Jessica has commented underneath a post about it, writing, “I think this is fair”.

To me, she thinks the limits she set made it reasonable. I can understand that, but he still got an opportunity through her.

Before you go, I wanna know… was Jessica making a fair compromise, or should Silas have auditioned?
