Val has responded after his Dancing With the Stars routine with Jenna Dewan was criticised for being a bit too out there.
The pair reunited for Halloween Horror Movie Night, performing an intense Argentine tango that ended with Val getting close to Jenna’s neck. Jenna’s fiancé was watching from the audience, so to me, that made it stand out even more.
They scored 37 out of 40, but the ending became a talking point beyond the choreography. Some viewers felt it went too far with her fiancé sitting there. I can see why it caught people off guard, but a dance routine doesn’t automatically mean someone’s crossing a line in a relationship.
Val had only just returned from a one-week suspension after defending his wife, Jenna Johnson, on TikTok during her disagreement with Carrie Ann. So his first week back brought another moment people had opinions about.
Val has now weighed in underneath a post about the routine, writing, “It’s just a dance..”
And I do get his point. Ballroom routines can involve close contact and dramatic choreography, so one moment like that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s anything more going on.
