Val has reacted after Alan Bersten replaced him on Dancing With the Stars after his one-week suspension.
Val was suspended after making a comment referencing Will Smith’s Oscars moment when responding to Carrie’s criticism of his wife, Jenna Johnson. Producers called the comment wrong, and Val later apologised.
I can understand why this situation has drawn attention, especially because Alan was eliminated earlier this season alongside his celebrity partner, Giada De Laurentiis, and is now stepping into Val’s place.
But Val seems comfortable with the arrangement. Sources close to the show told E News that he “fully trusts Alan to manage this week and is grateful that he’s stepped in” to dance with Jenna. Val is expected to return next week for Horror Movie Night, so Alan’s role is only temporary.
For now, Jenna and Alan are rehearsing their Viennese waltz to “Unchained Melody”, and Jenna has said she’s excited about the performance.
I actually think Val backing Alan is the best way to handle this, because if he publicly said anything negative about it, it may permanently cost him his place on the show.
