Eminem has reacted after his collaboration with Kid Rock struggled on the charts.
They teamed up on “Heal My Faith” for Kid Rock’s new album, Halfway 2 Jesus. The collaboration raised eyebrows because Eminem has been outspoken about his polly views, while Kid Rock supports Donald.
Eminem defended working with Kid Rock, writing, “Not about choosing sides, just choosing to make music with my old friend. Praying for all of us.”
But despite his promotion, the song failed to enter Spotify’s US Top 50 and quickly dropped out of the iTunes Top 100.
Honestly, I can understand why this collaboration surprised people. When you’ve spoken strongly about your beliefs, working with someone who supports the opposite side is going to raise questions.
At the same time, I don’t think making a song together automatically means Eminem has changed his views. A friendship lasting decades can be more complicated than people agreeing on everything.
Now Eminem has replied underneath a post about the chart performance, writing, “I’m for the music, not the charts”.
To me, that sounds like he’s standing by the collaboration regardless of how it performs. But I think the bigger debate is about who he’s working with, rather than the numbers.
Before you go, I wanna know… Does this collaboration contradict what he’s always stood for?
