Witney Carson and Mark Ballas refused to be in the same room during Dancing With the Stars.
Alexa and Carlos PenaVega spoke about it on their podcast, Lexlos. Alexa was partnered with Mark, while Carlos danced with Witney, so their partners not getting along made rehearsals awkward.
They’d expected to rehearse together, but ended up keeping things separate because of the tension.
Honestly, I’d find that frustrating. You’ve signed up to learn to dance, and suddenly someone else’s falling-out is affecting when you can be around your own husband or wife.
Carlos also said Mark was determined to win and wanted to try things “outside the box”, which involved more work, while Witney had a different approach.
I don’t think having different ways of teaching is unusual. But refusing to share a room sounds like things had gone beyond disagreeing over a routine.
Alexa explained, “At the time, Witney and Mark were not getting along at all, so they refused to be in the same room together, and that was really hard because we’re married.”
To me, that sounds unfair to Alexa and Carlos. Whatever the disagreement was, I think they should’ve been able to work around each other without making rehearsals harder for their partners.
