Lara Raj has reacted after Adela overtook Katseye in Spotify monthly listeners by over 5 million listeners.
Adela was eliminated before Katseye was formed, but she’s since built a career of her own. She signed with Capitol Records, and songs like “Ain’t in LA” and “Nicole Kidman” have helped her reach a bigger audience.
She now has around 39.5 million monthly listeners, compared with Katseye’s 34 million. I think that’s an impressive achievement for someone who missed out on the final lineup.
It’s also led people to question whether Hybe and Geffen made the wrong decision. I can understand that reaction, but succeeding as a solo artist doesn’t necessarily mean joining the group would have been the best outcome for her.
Going solo has given Adela the chance to establish her own sound and identity, and I don’t think she could’ve done that in the group.
Now Lara has celebrated the achievement herself. Underneath a post about Adela’s numbers, she commented, “she’s the baddest”.
I actually love seeing that support. Fans might be comparing their listener counts, but Lara is giving Adela her flowers.
