Cole Palmer has reacted to the backlash after footage of him ignoring fans went viral.
Fans gathered around the exit as Cole made his way out, with people applauding and chanting to show their support for the Chelsea players.
But the footage also sparked criticism, with some people questioning why Cole didn’t stop to interact with the fans.
I can understand why supporters might want a quick moment with him. They turn up to matches, cheer the team on and sometimes wait around for the chance to see their favourite players up close.
At the same time, I don’t think players should be expected to stop for everyone whenever they leave a stadium. There’s a difference between appreciating your supporters and being available to them every single time.
And from the footage alone, we can’t know what Cole was dealing with in that moment. Walking past a crowd doesn’t automatically mean he doesn’t appreciate the people supporting him.
Cole then addressed the criticism underneath a post discussing the incident, writing, “No disrespect but its too much sometimes”.
