Many NBA stars have reacted after Paul Pierce revealed he’s struggling financially.
First up, Charles Barkley said, “You can’t be spending $7,000 a month eating out and telling people you’re broke.”
Next, Shaquille O’Neal said, “Paul, brother, you might need to start cooking at home”
Next, Kevin Garnett said, “People don’t understand how quickly things change when that money stops coming in.”
Next, Gilbert Arenas said, “He’s got three million in property and people acting like he’s got nothing? Come on, man”
And finally, Stephen A. Smith said, “I feel for Paul, but at some point you’ve got to adjust your lifestyle”
Documents say his final Fox Sports payment came in August. He says he used to earn $119,000 a month, but that income has now dropped to zero. Last month, he made around $23,000 from other business ventures.
What stands out to me is what he says he still pays. He pays around $28,000 in monthly child support and another $20,000 in spousal support. He also says he has $300,000 in the bank and around $3 million in property.
Other costs include $8,000 for childcare, $5,000 on groceries and $7,000 on eating out, plus thousands more for bills and entertainment.
I can understand how losing an income source would put pressure on anyone. But that $7,000 restaurant bill is likely to raise eyebrows when Paul says he is struggling with payments.
Before you go, I wanna know… should he cut back on his lifestyle expenses?
