Jude Bellingham has said that Harry Kane didn’t deserve to win the Ballon d’Or.
Harry became the first Englishman to win since Michael Owen in 2001, finishing ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal.
He scored 73 goals in 65 appearances for club and country during the judging period, including 61 for Bayern Munich, and helped England finish third at the World Cup.
Honestly, I think those numbers make him a deserving winner. You can prefer another player, but scoring that many goals gives Harry a pretty strong argument.
I also liked how emotional he was accepting it. He also thanked his parents for their sacrifices and called his wife Katie his “best friend”.
After a season like that, I think it’s nice that he used the speech to recognise the people who supported him.
But Jude couldn’t resist joining in. Underneath a post about Harry’s achievement, he jokingly commented, “Should’ve been me”.
I actually think that’s funny. It sounds like he’s winding Harry up rather than seriously questioning whether he deserved it. Right now, Harry hasn’t responded to him, but I think he probably will once he sees the comment.
Before you go, I wanna know… did Harry deserve to win the award, or do you think another player deserved to win the award more than Harry did?
