Jay-Z Reacts To Backlash Over Choosing Himself To Headline 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Jay-Z has reacted to the backlash after choosing himself to headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show.

After weeks of speculation about names like Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus, Jay-Z will perform at SoFi Stadium on February 14.

This isn’t completely out of nowhere: Roc Nation has worked with the NFL on the halftime show since 2019, and Roger Goodell has said he hoped Jay-Z would perform from the start of their partnership.

That connection is exactly why some people are questioning the choice. Jay-Z has helped select performers for years, so now he’s stepping into the spotlight himself for one of the biggest music events in the world.

With other names being discussed, some fans were clearly hoping for a different choice. I can understand why that might feel questionable, but Jay-Z does have 25 Grammy wins and decades of hits behind him, so I do think he’s more than capable.

Jay-Z has now weighed in himself. Under a post about the announcement, he commented, “Can’t wait. Music matters more than anything.”

It’s good that he’s confident about this, but I don’t think the criticism will go away anytime soon.

Before you go, I wanna know… does Jay-Z deserve to headline the Super Bowl, or should he have chosen someone else?
