McKenna Grace has called out Jennifer Lawrence after she got rid of her hair on the set of The Hunger Games.
Jennifer explained on Call Her Daddy that she was tired of repeatedly changing her hair to brown to play Katniss Everdeen, so she asked production if she could wear a wig instead.
They refused, and Jennifer decided to make her own little protest. She got the pixie style that became one of her most recognisable looks back in 2013, even describing it as the worst hairstyle anyone had ever seen in their life.
I can understand why she was frustrated. Repeatedly changing your natural hair colour for a role sounds exhausting, so I don’t think asking for a wig was unreasonable.
But McKenna clearly had a different concern about the situation. Underneath a post discussing Jennifer’s experience, she commented, “i’d be terrified of the repercussions”.
That reaction makes me wonder how much freedom performers really have to push back when a production decision affects their appearance. Obviously, because the movies were already so successful at this point, they couldn’t get rid of Jennifer, but I think a smaller cast member could’ve definitely lost their job for this.
Before you go, I wanna know… Was Jennifer right to take matters into her own hands?
