Scooter Braun has reacted after Sydney Sweeney faced backlash for dressing up as Cindy Lou Who to promote her brand.
Sydney recreated the Dr Seuss character’s signature hairstyle and outfit for Siren, but the look quickly divided people online.
The main issue wasn’t necessarily the costume itself, but the decision to use a character associated with youth to promote the things she’s selling.
Honestly, I can understand why some people found that an unusual marketing choice, especially when Cindy Lou Who is such an innocent character.
But at the same time, I think some of the comments about Sydney are too mean, and people are taking it too far.
What made the situation even more interesting was that Sydney doubled down and said she was proud of the video.
To me, that suggests she isn’t particularly bothered by the criticism and is happy to stand by her creative choices.
And Scooter Braun has now weighed in on the controversy himself.
Underneath a post discussing Sydney’s costume, he commented: “More overreactions”.
Scooter’s standing by Sydney, and I’m not surprised. But I still think this could harm his image to be publicly standing by this.
Before you go, I wanna know, are people overreacting to Sydney’s Cindy Lou commercial, or was it the wrong choice?
