Rihanna has reacted to Jay-Z giving away free concert tickets after his show failed to sell out.
Screenshots circulating online showed tickets for his SoFi Stadium show listed at $0 through a Live Nation special offer. Some fans also said they received emails offering free tickets to people nearby.
Honestly, I can understand why people immediately questioned the sales. Jay-Z is a huge name, so seeing tickets offered for nothing is surprising, especially for a stadium show.
But I don’t think the offer alone tells us how many tickets he’s sold. There’s a difference between giving away some remaining seats and struggling to fill an entire stadium.
I’d also be a little annoyed if I’d paid for a ticket and then saw people getting in free. It’s a great opportunity for those receiving the offer, but I can see why paying fans might question it.
Now Rihanna has commented underneath a post about the situation, writing, “celebrate the music”.
To me, she sounds tired of the conversation becoming all about whether Jay-Z can sell tickets. She wants people to appreciate the show, and I agree that people should be doing that.
Before you go, I wanna know… would you be annoyed if you paid for a concert and tickets were later given away?
