Olivia Rodrigo has apologised after taking a fan’s pink hat, trying it on and then throwing it away during a concert.
I can imagine how exciting that interaction would’ve been at first. You hand Olivia your hat, she puts it on in front of everyone, and suddenly you’ve got a moment you’ll remember.
But watching her throw it aside afterwards has left fans confused, with someone saying that she was mean.
Honestly, I don’t think she needed to keep it for the rest of the show, but handing it back would’ve been the better option.
That said, I wouldn’t take it as her deliberately trying to upset the fan. She put it on and joined in, so to me, it looks more like she didn’t think through what she did next.
Now Olivia has commented underneath a post about the incident, writing, “im so sorry. being onstage is so overstimulating (and amazing) that it can make your thought process just be all over the place”.
I appreciate that she apologised. I can understand getting carried away during a performance, and her explanation makes sense to me. It still would’ve been nice for the fan to leave with their hat, but I think she’s being fair here.
