Lacey Turner has broken her silence on crying on the set of Strictly Come Dancing.
Lacey and her partner Vito performed an American Smooth for Icons Week, but it was her expression during the results that got people worried. Some viewers thought she was struggling to hold back tears, while others had already questioned whether she looked comfortable on the show.
I can understand why people picked up on that, especially with the pressure of performing live and waiting to hear whether you’re staying in the competition. But an emotional moment doesn’t automatically mean someone wants to leave, and it’s easy to read too much into someone’s expression in that situation.
Now Lacey has addressed it herself. Underneath a post about the moment, she commented, “A bit overwhelmed I was, but I’m ok”.
That gives a bit more context to what viewers saw. She’s acknowledged feeling overwhelmed while reassuring people she’s alright. To me, that’s an important distinction: feeling the pressure doesn’t necessarily mean she’s unhappy or not enjoying Strictly.
