Lucy shared a video of them recreating photos of their characters, but some viewers questioned it because Aria and Ezra’s relationship looks different through today’s lens.
Lucy addressed the comments in a post, saying, “Two things can be true at once: the relationship did not age well, but Ian and I were teenagers when they filmed the show and have been close friends for almost 20 years.”
She made it clear the video was about their friendship, not an attempt to glorify the relationship. I can understand both sides: it might have been a sweet way to celebrate their friendship, but those particular photos were always going to bring the conversation about Aria and Ezra back up.
Now Ian has weighed in too. Underneath a post about Lucy’s response, he simply commented, “Absolutely”.
It sounds like he agrees with Lucy’s explanation, although that one word doesn’t tell us exactly which parts he means.
