Many football stars have reacted after Harry Kane won the Ballon d’Or.
First up, David Beckham said, “What a moment for Harry and English football. So deserved”
Next, Wayne Rooney said, “73 goals is ridiculous. What a season he’s had.”
Next, Michael Owen said, “25 years later. Couldn’t be happier to see another Englishman win it”
And finally, Thomas Müller said, “About time, my friend.”
Harry Kane struggled to find the words after winning the Ballon d’Or and ending England’s 25-year wait for a winner.
He finished ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal, becoming the first UK footballer to win since Michael Owen won in 2001.
Harry scored 73 goals in 65 appearances for club and country during the judging period, including 61 for Bayern Munich. He also helped England finish third at the World Cup.
Honestly, I think those numbers make a strong case for him. Scoring that many goals across a season is incredible, even without winning the Champions League or World Cup.
Onstage, he thanked his parents for their sacrifices and called his wife Katie his “best friend”. He also said, “This is a trophy we all celebrate.”
Before you go, I wanna know… did Harry deserve the Ballon d’Or, or would you have chosen Mbappé?
