Alexandra LeClerc has reacted after Charles Leclerc said he still plans to race on Sunday, even if it means missing her having the baby.
Charles was asked whether he’d miss a Grand Prix to be there. He said he’d do everything possible to get home between races, even if he arrived a little late, but still intends to compete.
Honestly, I can understand why people would question that. You only get one chance to be there when your child is born, and I’d find it difficult knowing I might miss it because of work.
At the same time, racing for Ferrari comes with commitments that aren’t easy to rearrange. He’s saying he’ll try to get home, although that still leaves the possibility he won’t make it in time.
For me, Alexandra’s feelings matter here too. She’s the one potentially having to have it on her own, so it would’ve been nice if he made more effort for her.
Now Alexandra has commented underneath a post about his decision, writing, “supporting him all the way”.
I think she’s making it clear she’s behind him. I might choose differently, but I don’t think people should assume she feels let down when she’s publicly supporting his plans.
Before you go, I wanna know… should Charles miss the race to be there for her?
