Zayn Malik has reacted after Harry Styles paid tribute to Liam Payne on the second anniversary of his passing.
Harry remembered Liam during his Madison Square Garden residency in New York. He was talking about how lucky he felt to perform at a venue that meant so much to him, before making the moment more personal by speaking about losing a close friend.
Harry told the crowd, “Two years ago today, I lost one of those friends.”
I think that was a simple but heartfelt way to acknowledge Liam. Harry didn’t need to go into their whole history together for people to understand what losing his friend meant to him.
He then told the audience, “I’m gonna play you a song I wrote for my friend about two years ago, if that’s all right.”
Fans cried in the audience as Harry performed the song, and people are saying it’s one of his best performances ever.
And Zayn has now acknowledged the tribute too. Underneath a post about Harry’s moment, he commented, “Beautiful tribute”.
I think those two words say enough. Zayn didn’t need to write a lengthy message to show his appreciation, and it’s a touching reminder that Liam’s memory still means a lot to the people who knew him.
Before you go, I wanna know… do you think Harry’s tribute was a nice way to remember Liam?
