Louis Tomlinson has reacted after Harry Styles argued with an autograph seeker in New York.
Harry was out for a walk when a fan approached with records to sign. Things then got tense, and Harry looked pretty angry.
The fan then followed Harry for several blocks. His bodyguard approached some officers to explain what was happening, although the officers didn’t intervene.
I can understand why Harry might have been frustrated. Being famous doesn’t mean you have to stop every time someone wants an autograph, especially when you’re trying to enjoy some time outside.
Harry has spoken about how important that freedom is to him. He explained that an outgoing girlfriend helped him realise it was okay to go outside, saying, “Now, it’s changed my life in such a big way, because it’s how you stay connected to the world.”
That’s why this incident stands out. If going out freely matters that much to Harry, confrontations like this could make it harder to enjoy that freedom.
Now Louis has weighed in. Underneath a post about the incident, he commented, “Fair play”.
I’d read that as support for Harry’s right to privacy, although it’s still worth noting that Louis always seems to accommodate people and I don’t think he’s publicly turned someone down.
Before you go, I wanna know… should celebrities have to sign autographs when they’re off-duty, or do they deserve privacy?
