Carrie Ann Inaba has said that Val should’ve been suspended for longer after he was removed from next week’s Dancing With the Stars show over his joke about her.
After Carrie Ann criticised Jenna Johnson’s routine for including a lift, Val referenced the Will Smith and Chris Rock Oscars incident in a TikTok post, writing that viewers “almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night.”
I can understand Val wanting to defend his wife, but joking about things like that is different, especially given Carrie Ann has spoken about the negativity she receives on the show.
Val apologised, but he’ll miss next week’s episode, while Jenna will still perform with Alan Bersten.
A source has now described Carrie Ann’s thoughts, saying: “Carrie Ann is relieved that the producers have taken action, but she privately believes Val should have been suspended for much longer than just one week.
They carried on and said: “She thinks his comments were completely unacceptable and that someone who’s been part of the show for so many years should know better. While she appreciates that he’s apologised, she doesn’t believe saying sorry should automatically mean everything goes back to normal.”
