Kate Cassidy has spoken out about the backlash for bragging that she knows Elton John.
In the clip, Kate is talking about something connected to Elton John’s foundation when she casually says, “Oh, nice. I know Elton.”
And that one line quickly became the entire focus, with people taking it as Kate trying to show off that she personally knows Elton.
Honestly, I can understand why it caught people’s attention. When you only see that tiny section of the conversation, saying “I know Elton” can definitely come across like a name-drop.
At the same time, I think a short clip like this leaves out a lot of context, and now we’re getting a very different explanation of what Kate thought she was doing.
A source said, “Kate is embarrassed by the backlash because she genuinely wasn’t trying to brag about knowing Elton. She thought she was just sharing a nice story, and she never expected people to take it as her trying to show off or name-drop.”
I actually think that context makes the reaction feel slightly over the top. Kate might’ve worded it in a way that sounded like it was bragging, but if she was already telling a story involving Elton, mentioning that she knows him doesn’t automatically mean she was trying to impress anyone.
Before you go, I wanna know, is she trying to save face? Or are fans being too mean to her?
