Trina Parks has backed Sydney Sweeney to become the next Bond girl in Amazon’s upcoming James Bond reboot.
Trina played Thumper alongside Sean Connery in Diamonds Are Forever, so she knows what it’s like to be part of the franchise. And with casting for the next 007 still underway, her choice has added another name to the conversation.
I can understand why Sydney is being considered. She’s already built a huge profile in Hollywood, and her roles have shown she can take on quite a range of characters. But being a recognisable name doesn’t automatically mean someone is right for Bond.
Speaking to the Telegraph, she praised Sydney’s acting range and said she has “ownership of her identity”.
She also highlighted Sydney’s classic Hollywood style and poise, explaining that modern audiences want an independent woman alongside Bond instead of someone who’s just there because of the way that they look.
I do think Sydney could bring something interesting to the franchise, but I still think it’s unlikely they will choose her, especially because of her recent controversies.
