Maya Jama has addressed why she was missing from Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked.
I think that Maya & James’ absence stood out after Friday’s final, where Romesh and Sebastian won as Faithfuls, splitting £83,000 between their charities. Maya and King Kenny had been banished at the last hurdle.
James had left the night before after admitting he was a Traitor. Filming was paused while he gathered himself, so viewers were curious to see whether he’d return for the special.
Honestly, I would have liked to hear from both of them. Maya had come so close to winning, and James’s confession was the sort of moment you’d want everyone discussing afterwards.
But I don’t think missing the reunion automatically means either of them had a problem with the show. They have other work, and Maya had been filming the second series of The Gentlemen that week.
Now she’s replied underneath a post about her absence, writing, “Guys I was just busy”.
I actually find that quite funny. People were looking for an explanation, and hers couldn’t be simpler.
It’s disappointing when someone you wanted to hear from can’t attend, but I can understand her being blunt if people were making more of it than they needed to.
