Janet Jackson has called out the new Michael Jackson Netflix doc and said she wants nobody to watch it.
The documentary came out right after the success of the Michael film. Even though their claims are pretty shocking, people think they’re just trying to leverage the movie’s success.
Now Janet has spoken out about the new Michael doc. Under a post about it, she wrote, “I don’t think anyone should be watching this. It’s wrong.”
I can completely understand why she is so upset by this new project. Janet has always loved Michael and is adamant he did nothing wrong, so seeing his name brought up like this again must be incredibly difficult.
The three-part series titled “The Verdict” focuses on the massive 2003 trial involving serious allegations against him.
In the end, a jury acquitted him of all charges, but the project still revisits the entire situation. It definitely feels unfair to bring everything back up when he is not here to defend himself.
The filmmaker says he tried to present a balanced story by filtering the recollections of the people who were part of the trial.
But for fans and family, it feels like an unnecessary look into past drama. Janet is making it clear that she wants people to skip it entirely to protect his legacy.
