Indiyah has called out Shakira Khan after she finally addressed the intense backlash over her thoughts on diversity.
Shakira clarified that her words were completely misconstrued and denied claims that she is anti-Black.
She explained she was simply discussing the cast lineup rather than the specific treatment of women of color in the villa.
Shakira stated she believes the current lineup is fairly diverse because it features people from multiple ethnic minorities, including South Asian representation.
She pointed out that 9 percent of the UK population is Asian and felt the show did a good job by including five people of black heritage and three people of Asian heritage this year.
This shows how complicated discussions around casting can get. Shakira acknowledged that representation is a major issue, but confessed she does not know how the casting team can fix dating preferences behind the scenes.
After this went viral, Indiyah decided to speak out on this. Underneath a video of it, she made a comment saying: “I just think everyone needs to do better”.
Obviously, she isn’t happy with what Shakira said, and it seems she thinks that both the cast and the producers could do better.
