Anok Yai got so emotional during her speech after being voted best dressed at the Met Gala.
People won’t stop talking about her stunning appearance, which was designed to resemble a bronze statue in motion. She explained that she wanted to blur the line between being a person and being a piece of art for the big night.
Anok worked with Balenciaga to bring the vision to life. She felt the designer, Pierpaolo, was the perfect person because he has so much passion and a strong vision for his work.
She said, “After our first fitting, he told me his idea of me being the Black Madonna. I immediately envisioned images of The Weeping Statues of Sicily.”
She carried on and said: “For the team, this was not just about fashion but about sending a message of hope to the world.”
Anok feels that her outfit represented the strength it takes to carry unseen struggles with grace during difficult times.
She was very thankful to everyone who helped make it happen because the idea was quite wild, and they did not have much time to finish it. She said, “I know the idea was crazy and the time was short, but look at what we did!”
Everyone is so happy for her that this was the first moment of her career where she completely took over an event. She’s obviously been praised a lot, but this is really the first time she’s made a big mainstream splash.
