Davina McCall has revealed she was turned down when she put herself forward to host ITV’s Big Brother reboot.
This started after Davina admitted she actively wanted to return when Big Brother moved to ITV in 2023.
She said, “I’ve got a secret to tell you, actually,” before explaining that she put herself forward to present the show.
But ITV chose AJ and Will instead.
Davina even offered to do a small pre-title cameo where she would say her iconic, “fancy another one?” line.
But she said they didn’t want her to do that either.
Davina is one of the main reasons people still associate Big Brother with event television. So completely leaving her out made the reboot feel like they just wanted younger names. Davina is a far more talented host than AJ and Will, so I really don’t agree with them turning her down.
The vibe has never been the same since she left.
At the same time, maybe not returning protected her legacy. Some fans have criticised the ITV version for feeling softer than the Big Brother they remember. If she returned and the new show wasn’t as good, it could’ve ruined the way people see her.
