Melanie Moreno has totally ruined her long-term game plan on the new season of Love Island.
Obviously, even though contestants are there to find romance and win the grand prize, doing so requires staying on the island long enough.
There are massive benefits to strategic alliances and building connections with other islanders. We saw this during Season 6, on the night Janay Craig was saved from elimination, because the rest of the girls’ affinity for her over Andrea Carmona kept her safe.
But this season, Melanie chose to ruin major bridges with the people who could protect her later. She shamelessly announced pulling KC for a chat right in front of Aniya.
This happened right after Aniya spent time consoling her over her massive meltdown about Sincere Rhea pulling Kayda Bosse without permission.
To me, this shows a total lack of awareness because she then snatched the new arrival away mid-group conversation.
Pulling people for a chat likely would not have been an issue if she used a more appropriate strategy. I actually don’t want Melanie to go home yet, but this behaviour will come back to bite when the next elimination happens.
