Rihanna has called out Starbucks after getting rid of two workers despite them helping stop a robbery.
A man named Michael Harris said he was working when two masked men came in and wanted everything from the cash register.
Michael first tried to follow Starbucks’ safety policy by complying and de-escalating the situation.
But things changed when he couldn’t open the register because he didn’t have the right managerial access.
Michael said the moment was terrifying and told a local station he thought he wasn’t going to make it through that day.
He was struck during the incident, and then his co-worker noticed that part of the Wep had broken off and believed it was fake.
They then restrained one of the robbers until officers arrived, while the other person ran away.
Weeks later, Michael says Starbucks let both workers go for violating company policy.
Now Rihanna has stepped in underneath a post about it and said, “you can’t do this to them”.
And honestly, I get why people agree with her. Starbucks can say the policy is about safety, but these workers were the ones trapped in the moment, getting hit, and trying to survive.
A training rule may sound simple on paper, but real danger doesn’t always give you time to follow the perfect script.
Before you go, I wanna know: should Starbucks have protected the workers instead of firing them?
